It was a pretty goofy film in the 70s. I'm not sure why anyone felt the need to remake it. Maybe all those colorful powders were too cheerful?

I still have a warm fuzzy spot for that film, though. :)
I don't see why they have to keep remaking these old productions. It's never as good as when the message was new and revolutionary, man.
It was rubbish. I don't remember seeing the original, but it has to be better than what I wasted 4 hours of my life on...
Oh you must see the original! It's totally late 60s/early 70s. It's got Arthur Hill, possibly one of the most familiar faces you never remember from the 60s-80s! Totally worth a few hours of your time if you bear in mind its 'when.'

I loved the book and the original movie. The movie is strange but good. I forgot to watch the miniseries; now I'm glad I forgot.

I believe Andromeda Strain was the first Crichton film.
