My 300 Post...
Well, finally, I got to see 300. I think we went Friday or maybe Thursday night. I don't remember. Anyhow, the movie lived up to all of my expectations. It was damn good to see an action movie that is rated R that had R rated content, and I don't just mean nudity.
I have stated previously that I am not a very good movie or book reviewer, but here is my go at this one.
Good movie; moreover, damn good movie. The Spartans were fantastic in all of their bad-arse glory. The Persians were freaky while maintaining a side of sissy. The politicians were appropriate rabble mongers - rabble, rabble, democracy this, the law this, etc... Damn politicians need to learn to make decisions before people die, not after and because of people dying. I have read and heard that some people complained about the style of shooting used for the fight scenes, but I disagree. I did not get tired of seeing the stop motion and then fast motion of all of the incredibly well shot fight scenes. It just added a little bit more awesomeness (not a good word, but usable) to the movie. I place this movie, on my list, up there with Conan the Barbarian - although technology had a bigger hand in 300. Kick arse movie with men that stuck to their morals, code, and manliness.
With all of that said, this, as you can read, was a good movie. It was beautifully shot and edited. The sounds and score captured the essence of what was going on visually. In addition, my wife actually loved it as well. She mumbled something about needing a cigarette and some dark chocolate upon exiting the theatre. For you women, there are too few movies out there to equal the T and A men are privy to in just about every other movie, but this is one of them. Watch and enjoy!

Sunday night The History channel ran a show on the history behind the movie (I think it was called 300 also) that was far more interesting than I would've normally expected, having just seen the movie. I recommend trying to catch a re-airing.

Amen to that.
To Seph: Yes, we saw the end of that special as well and it looked equally as good as the movie.
To Fallen Anjel: It's really not that much sweaty, nude men. They do more than prance, but I do understand your thought on this.
