For those of you in the Meat Group, I apologize for letting Meat Day slack as much as it has. However, today that changes and Meat Day returns, for today at least.
So, for those of you in the Group and those who love meat, go out there and EAT some MEAT!
Personally, I am going to get some beef ribs or a nice fat, juicy rib-eye and gorge myself tonight. I will chase it all down with the sweetest tea in South Mississippi. That's correct, I am going to Leatha's tonight!
Eat some Meat!
I challenge you, all of Vox, to find a better steak than the one I had tonight. We, of course, went to Leatha's with Kevin Gerard, a visiting author, and I finally had their 16 oz. ribeye (medium). It was better than any other steak I have had in my entire life - I promise - and it only cost $20.00. I have been to fancy, ritzy, and pricey joints that had very good steaks, but nothing like this. It was perfectly salty, juicy, tender, and smoked. Even the fat was tasty, and I normally don't like the fatty part too much.
Bring it on Vox, find a better steak...
You know what that means...
It must be MEAT DAY!
I am actually going to celebrate Meat Day where it all began - Leatha's. My wife and I will be taking our visiting author out that way for dinner tonight. His stop at my branch had pretty poor attendance; however, he saw over 200 kids at another of our branches, so his visit was successful.
Also, Mardi Gras is just around the corner - February 5th! What does this mean? It means that you need to get yourself a KING CAKE! I would recommend that you order one from Meche's Donut King in Lafayette, LA. Trust me, you cannot go wrong with a Meche's King Cake!
Well, it's a day late because I had no netz at home, but now I do.
I believe I have talked about the goodness that is Leatha's before. However, this time I have pictures. I can almost promise you that it will be the best BBQ you ever do eat.
The Building Itself, complete with plywood floors and the occasional beach towel for a drape...
The smoke house is directly next to the building of goodness...
Leatha's is located in the back of a lot that sells trailers, pure goodness...
The meat (beef rib and pork rib) with and without flash - notice, nothing but meat on the plate...
The rolls and sauce (you only need one sauce!), and yes, the rolls have been heated in a microwave...
The sides, if you must have them and they are fantastic (slaw and potato salad - mustardy goodness)...
Better than home cooking...
