For those of you in the Meat Group, I apologize for letting Meat Day slack as much as it has. However, today that changes and Meat Day returns, for today at least.
So, for those of you in the Group and those who love meat, go out there and EAT some MEAT!
Personally, I am going to get some beef ribs or a nice fat, juicy rib-eye and gorge myself tonight. I will chase it all down with the sweetest tea in South Mississippi. That's correct, I am going to Leatha's tonight!
Eat some Meat!
I challenge you, all of Vox, to find a better steak than the one I had tonight. We, of course, went to Leatha's with Kevin Gerard, a visiting author, and I finally had their 16 oz. ribeye (medium). It was better than any other steak I have had in my entire life - I promise - and it only cost $20.00. I have been to fancy, ritzy, and pricey joints that had very good steaks, but nothing like this. It was perfectly salty, juicy, tender, and smoked. Even the fat was tasty, and I normally don't like the fatty part too much.
Bring it on Vox, find a better steak...
You know what that means...
It must be MEAT DAY!
I am actually going to celebrate Meat Day where it all began - Leatha's. My wife and I will be taking our visiting author out that way for dinner tonight. His stop at my branch had pretty poor attendance; however, he saw over 200 kids at another of our branches, so his visit was successful.
Also, Mardi Gras is just around the corner - February 5th! What does this mean? It means that you need to get yourself a KING CAKE! I would recommend that you order one from Meche's Donut King in Lafayette, LA. Trust me, you cannot go wrong with a Meche's King Cake!
For her substantial hog consumption, as well as other meats, IG is hereby presented an honorary MEAT Group certificate*. She is henceforth to be considered a MEAT Group member with all rights and privileges...
Hey, if you can take part in the eating of 4 WHOLE Pigs in a short month then you deserve this privilege.
*This has of course been approved by the Law Furm of KAC (Kit, Ash, and Clyde).
Yep, big arse pot of chili for food tonight. I am stuffed to the hush puppies. No more room in me belly. Now, for you veggie people, I did add black beans, red beans, pinto beans, chili beans, kidney beans, 2 onions, 2 bell peppers, 2 jalapenos (on a stick), and lots of seasoning. I think it was good.
I don't know if it will be an "official" Meat Day today (well, it hasn't been to this point). It doesn't feel like a "meat" day. Too much of the meat over the holidays. So, you know, eat some meat if it feels right. If it doesn't eat something that isn't meat, like spam. Have a good Friday Night!
Well, it's a day late because I had no netz at home, but now I do.
I believe I have talked about the goodness that is Leatha's before. However, this time I have pictures. I can almost promise you that it will be the best BBQ you ever do eat.
The Building Itself, complete with plywood floors and the occasional beach towel for a drape...
The smoke house is directly next to the building of goodness...
Leatha's is located in the back of a lot that sells trailers, pure goodness...
The meat (beef rib and pork rib) with and without flash - notice, nothing but meat on the plate...
The rolls and sauce (you only need one sauce!), and yes, the rolls have been heated in a microwave...
The sides, if you must have them and they are fantastic (slaw and potato salad - mustardy goodness)...
Better than home cooking...
That's correct, I am at work, but I am phoning it in today. Well, at least, I am trying to do just that. However, so far, I have had to unplug one nastily plugged toilet and, well, that's about it. Oh, the joys of working at a library that doesn't have a custodial staff. It is only me and one other person running the liberry today. One lady wanted off, no problem, and then one lady called in sick this morning. So, just two of us. It is doable. Will actually make the time go by faster if we are busy.
Anyway, I leave you with me feets @ work, enjoy...
It is MEAT DAY by the way, so EAT some meat.
It's been a while since I had some MEAT to post about, so here is some Sausage (deer sausage at that).
As you can see, we were at a loss for what to have for food tonight. My wife suggested eggs and sausage. It was I who suggested the waffle fries*!
So, what you have is two eggs over really easy resting delicately on some waffle fries. On the side, you have some deer sausage. What you do is break the yolks and let the goodness run on the waffle fries. You then proceed to eat the hell out of it - you know, before it gets cold.
*For those veggie people, I believe waffle fries are safe to eat in moderation.
**Notice the fine china...
